Wrapped Statera (wSTA) is now live on Polygon Network (previously Matic) and available for trading through Sushi. There have been many high-profile DeFi projects such as AAVE and CRV that have set up shop on the Polygon network, and we are proud to join them. The low transaction costs facilitate high volume trading in a way that isn’t feasible on Ethereum at this point.

Below is a guide on how to add Polygon/Matic as a custom network and bridge wSTA between networks. Please note that Matic token is needed to trade on the network. Given the low transaction cost on the Polygon network, there is a faucet available that will supply you with sufficient Matic to trade with.

How to add Polygon/Matic as a custom Network

There are two ways to do this: through either manually adding it, or selecting a one-click option.

One-click option

  1. Navigate to Sushi
  2. Click the Network selector (most likely displaying ‘Ethereum’) in the top-right-hand corner of the screen
  3. You will be asked to select a network, select ‘Polygon (Matic)’
  4. Metamask will ask you if you wish to add the custom network, click Approve
  5. You then have the option to switch to the Polygon network. This can be done in the future through Metamask, or through the network selector on Sushi.

Custom add

  1. In the top right corner of Metamask, click “Ethereum Network”
  2. Select “Custom RPC” at the bottom
  3. Enter the below information for the Polygon/Matic Mainnet and click ‘Save’ to add the network to Metamask:

Now that you have added Polygon to Metamask, you can swap between the Ethereum and Polygon networks as needed by clicking the Network drop-down menu in the top right corner.

You will have to have your Metamask set to the correct network in order to utilize the bridge.

How to bridge assets to Polygon

  1. Switch Metamask to the Ethereum network
  2. Go to the Polygon/Matic bridge
  3. Ensure that your FROM network is Ethereum, and your TO network is Matic
  4. Select the asset you wish to transfer from the token selector — if you wish to buy wSTA on Sushi, the trading pair is wETH
  5. Enter the amount you wish to transfer, and click the Transfer button
  6. You will have to sign the bridging request twice, once to Approve the deposit, and once to Complete
  7. You will then be shown the progress of your transfer, this will notify you when the process is complete
  8. Switch Metamask to the Polygon network
  9. Go to matic.supply and claim some Matic for network transaction fees
  10. You’re now ready to trade on Sushi!
  11. You can add wSTA (Polygon) to Metamask by using the “Add Token” button and entering the contract address 0xf629712180bEF6F4c569B704e03d0AcbE276Eb6d
